About Us
RESCUE
Mission of El Paso serves as a
member of the local body of Christ in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to
the poor, hungry, and displaced while demonstrating the love of Christ in
assisting persons with physical needs of food, clothing, shelter, counseling,
education, vocational, training and placement.
RESCUE Mission of El Paso aims to teach all
people encountered how to take care of themselves and their families by becoming
productively employed members of society. In addition,
RESCUE
Mission of El Paso also has a

History
RESCUE
Mission of El Paso was organized by Mr. H. M. Wallis and
located at 602 N. Oregon St. He, his wife, or Mrs. Henry operated the
Mission for the next 4 years.
1956 Glenn Cuddeford bought the Mission property and expanded it operation to
community-wide.
1958 Green Tree Inn Hotel at 604 San Francisco St. became the Rescue Mission
1964 Bristol Hotel, next door to the existing location, was purchased and the
Mission was expanded into that building..
1986 Rescue Mission moved to its current location, 1949 W. Paisano Dr. after the
purchase of the Centro Vida church property
Future Plans
The Rescue Mission is growing! Due to the huge demand for our services, the Rescue Mission has embarked on
a $1,600,000 project to more than double the size of our main building. The expansion will increase the size
of the men’s dormitory and triple the size of the bathroom for the men. At the present time our guest to
toilet ratio on the men’s side is an unbearable 33:1. The new bathrooms will reduce that ratio to 6:1.
The remainder of the first floor expansion will be a new laundry room and a respite care facility to include a
doctor’s examination room. Can you imagine being discharged from a hospital with a surgical dressing that
needs to be changed and having no place to go? Such a horrible experience is happening on a regular basis here in
El Paso. The new respite care facility will have 16 beds where the sick can be cared for in an environment which
promotes their rest and healing.
Then, the Rescue Mission is adding a second floor over our existing building. The second floor will double the
space we currently have for housing families, and it will provide individual rooms which people can rent as their
permanent homes. The Mission is already providing much more than emergency shelter for persons who are homeless. Many of our guests are disabled and simply do not have the capacity to live anywhere else. Some of them may get a social security check which is as little as $600 per month. Yet, the cheapest apartments in the El Paso area are $500 a month, and that rate does not include utilities or food. Our new rooms will rent for $395 a month including utilities and all of the food the person can eat. The target populations will be the elderly and disabled and those persons who need affordable housing in a facility which is free of the influences of alcohol and illegal drugs.
The whole expansion will add 18,400 square-feet of new floor space and increase the housing capacity of the
Mission to 200 beds!
Thanks to your prayers and support and those of thousands of others who love this ministry of sharing the love of
Christ with the poor, we can build for a better future for all of God’s children who need our help.
Let me add that not one penny of government money has gone into this building. While some government grants are
available to assist projects such as this one, the cost of accepting government money was greater than it was
worth. At the beginning of this project we added the costs if we used any government money and if we built it
with contributions from our donors. The cost was over one million dollars greater if we used any federal funds.
This building has been, and will always be, an expression of love from God’s people to the poor of El Paso.
